The DMM Captain Hook is a high-strength, self-locating hook designed for arborists and rope access professionals who need reliable connection points in challenging environments. Engineers developed this tool with the precision and attention to detail that DMM is known for. As a result, it performs consistently when connecting to remote anchors or navigating complex canopy structures.
A pivoting D-shackle sits at the attachment point and helps the hook orient correctly during placement. If the hook approaches an anchor at the wrong angle, the shackle destabilises the position and encourages the hook to rotate into the correct orientation. In addition, the carefully sculpted hook profile improves engagement with branches or structural anchors. This design supports secure placement and smooth sideways movement when traversing.
Once the hook engages the anchor, its precision engineering delivers a strength rating of up to 23 kN, depending on the anchor used. The hook also features a bark-friendly design, which helps reduce damage to tree surfaces during canopy work. Consequently, arborists can work more efficiently while protecting the tree.
The Captain also stores neatly on a harness. Its snag-resistant racking design and 15 mm eye reduce the chance of catching on branches, ropes, or equipment. Therefore, climbers can move through dense canopies or complex structures with fewer obstructions.
