The Tree Climber’s Companion is a fully revised and expanded field manual designed for professional tree climbers. It provides practical guidance, training tips, and essential reference material for climbers at all levels.
This book covers climbing techniques, equipment selection, and the best knots and tools for safe, efficient tree work. Detailed illustrations accompany each topic, making complex methods easy to understand and apply.
Chapters guide readers through pre-climb inspections, rope installation, tree entry, and positioning within the tree. They also cover knot selection for climbing and provide a directory of equipment suppliers. Each section delivers actionable advice, helping beginners learn quickly and experienced climbers refine their skills.
Jeff Jepson, a certified arborist and tree service owner, draws on his years of hands-on experience. He explains methods that climbers can use immediately in the field. Additionally, Bryan Kotwica, a professional climber and artist, provides precise illustrations. His drawings clearly show techniques and equipment in real-world scenarios.
The book functions as both a pocket guide for on-site reference and a comprehensive training manual. Climbers can apply its lessons directly, improving safety, efficiency, and confidence during every climb.
Whether you are starting in tree climbing, training others, or enhancing your professional skills, The Tree Climber’s Companion equips you with knowledge, techniques, and visual guidance for every task. With this guide, climbers gain a reliable resource that combines practical experience with clear, accessible instruction.
